Bbm requires a cellular connection, it won't work on an "only wifi" tablet.
Edit: you need to sideload the apk if your tablet is wifi only.

Yes it will work on wifi. If you sideload it to your tablet it works fine on WiFi only. You just can't download it from Google Play.
    Ah i see. Thanks bro.

If any of your friends are looking to use it, just get them to allow "unknown sources" in their settings and they can sideload it.

Working fine here, just had to sideload. Only problem, of course, is that if you also have BBM on your phone, you need a new BB ID for your tab or you have to switch your ID back and forth.

If you jump over to the Apple Apps store it say that iPad are compatible ....but it look like they required a cellular connection.
I do believe that may this also apply to Android device.

    ??? Dont ask me why..
hmmm....as of last night I did not see it in either the App Store I accessed from my iPad 3, or from the App Store I accessed through iTunes on my Mac. Both showed iPhone only.

Still didn't see it this morning.

I'll tell you why. Because it's Blackberry. Unfortunately it's what I've come to expect. Another of a long list of gotchas.
    yes indeed...bash BB....not tired yet?

From what I've read in other threads the only iPad users that can get it from the app store are those who have devices that are cellular compatible. Wifi only versions will now show as available for download.

Nexus 10 is a tablet and as of now, tablets and some smartphones are not compatible with Official BBM app. I have a solution on this post [How to Install Official BBM app on Samsung Galaxy Tabs]. This probably works on every android tablet. Give it a try. Worked for many. May work for you as well. Moreover APK's floating around may be the one's banned by Blackberry they might contains viruses for that matter. I suggest & recommend you to follow the link in the comment.

I've worked in IT for years, and play around with all sorts of tech, but I like my Nexus 10 being reliable so after much thought I'm going to wait until BBM is legitimately available for it (I have my Z10 so I'll stick with that).

Although I'll try and get my wife to install it on her iPhone 5, I don't know how much it will get used though as SMS / MMS is all she ever uses.

I had a blackberry playbook that had its own ID so I don't have to make a new one for my nexus 7fhd. I also don't mind having two ID's.

How do I side load this to my tbalet,

    Z10 user here.

    Hi,

BBM is designed for the device with screen size 7 inch or less.

They didn't make BBM available on larger than 7 inch tablets. It's just something that they were going to bring later... I don't know why but they actually mentioned this a while back

Just grab the latest apk and install it! It's just not compatible through play store etc. I have it on several 10" tablets.
