    Hi,
    At Brazil's newspapers and magazines today, there are articles telling that the Federal Police together with a Justice Court, had broken BBM's messages. They tell they were able to read all the messages exchanged through BBM. That's why they were able to arrest persons involved in a billionaire corruption plot.
    Is that possible?

    Why does the CB app mangle the posts, if there are HTML character descriptions in it and post the HTML text with all the tags?

    Webmaster / CB app dev please have a look into it...

    "No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "

    The special character in the first line makes the post appear as HTML, instead of text...

    That is no surprise if they have the device.

    BlackBerry doesn't store messages, but all non-bes BBM uses same keys. So they just need a court order, or pay someone who has the keys. It's been posted that these keys are widely known by those in the know (but not right out in the public domain) .

    You need bes to have your own keys.

    This is correct. (Though I'm not sure if BlackBerry never stores messages at all - they could be stored for a short time.)

    Once upon a time many years ago, BBM was more secure than the (completely insecure) competition in terms of how it transmitted messages "over the wire".

    Nowadays the method of transmitting data that BBM uses is actually less secure than most of the competition. (Though there are other aspects of BBM architecture that are actually better for security than many of its competitors)

    RIM/BlackBerry refers to the data obfuscation technique used by BBM to transmit communications as "scrambling", as opposed to "encrypting".
