When I've added new iOS contacts and I send them messages, I'm seeing the checkmark but no "D" or "R". This appears to be an intermittent problem, where sometimes it's working and sometimes it's not.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I think there was an issue with the invites, after it showed the person being added as a contact it then prompted me to re-invite the person because I guess the invite didn't go through. It appears to be working fine now...

It happens to me as well however, the check mark eventually changes to D then R. This is my speculation: For iOS users I think BBM has to be active for you to see the D or R on your end... that is they have to be using it. OR you just have to wait until BBM refreshes (or calls for updates) in the background... I notice with whatsapp, the same thing kinda happens when I send my iOS contacts a message. So it seems like BBM on iOS (as well as many other apps) are not updated in the background in real time.

    That's me speculating though

Edit: further more, I would expect BlackBerry to hold a few things back if it isn't in one of their phones.

Mainly the secure communication aspect - you may have been given a pin, but I would doubt that the link is a secure as a BlackBerry > NOC > BlackBerry.

More likely iPhone > network > NOC > BlackBerry... but this is just speculation..

I hope benjamin nyc's statement was a jab at apple and not BlackBerry because what I described would be due to iOS not BlackBerry

But BBM claims that "always connected" is one of their features. They don't say it's only for BB users. Are you saying that BBM is incapable of being "always connected" on iOS?

I think it has to do with the fact that ios can turn off or log out, same with Android

I'm sure it is always connected, but that the iOS phone may be putting it to sleep due to its 'multitasking' 'abilities'... but again this is supposition, as my bbm works great on bb10

No one that I'm having problems with has logged out during the time that my messages were not delivered. So that's not it.
