I've noticed this between my Z10 and my wife's Iphone 4 on BBM many times. Thought perhaps it was just me.

I have the same problem. It went away after turning the notifications on but sometimes bbm on my contacts ios phone would log off and ask for a password.

Hopefully they will update this soon. I already had to ios users go back to whatsapp after this.

I sent a text and a bbm message from my Z10 to my wife's iPhone4 and the text showed up in 4 seconds. The BBM didn't show up until I took her phone and opened the BBM icon (app) two hours layer basically if I want to contact my wife texting works BBM doesn't. This bug needs to be fixed ASAP Or no one on another platform will want to use it.

Trying turning on the notifications for bbm in the settings. That should fix that problem for you as bbm notifications seem to be disabled by default on ios.

its not just IOS my wife has an s3 and unless she is actively using BBM the messages dont come. many in android app store are relating this to newest BBM update hopefully fixed soon had to resort to.... whatsapp until its fixed and i just uninstalled it too.

Thanks, I have done that but the issue isn't the notifications not being turned on. They work fine when the app is open or at least has been opened in the last few minutes. This is a bigger problem than most people realize. If this is the experience that most non-BB users are getting absolutely no one would see the benefits vs texting. Alternative IM apps are incredibly unpopular in the US, everyone has unlimited texting with their plans so using another app that chews up data and is unreliable is not going to happen. The service needs to be reliable and provide unique features that pop, not just an R And D. Snapchat has found their niche, BBM Needs to as well.

Just had a friend on ios delete bbm because of this same issue. Msg's not going through or recieved. They ended up texting. Smh BlackBerry

I have the exact same problem from my Z10 to numerous iPhone. My BBM message just hangs with a grey box and a check mark. Sometimes it works fine and other times nothing...it is at least 50/50 and crucially needs to be fixed!

My nexus 4 running kit Kat had the same problem and coincidentally both times on a Saturday. The whole day when the phone sleeps the icon will shutdown and no messages gets thru. It happened last Saturday and again today (Saturday). Last week it stabilized on Sunday and the whole week was fine (mostly) then started again today. Is Google pushing updates or Bbm servers undergoing maintenance? last week my Samsung S2 also affected but not today. Only the N4 is affected.

Changelog only states missing contacts as a bug fix. Hopefully the next update concerning this problem will come quickly.
