I've been experiencing a problem whereby I am in Canada and I have a friend in the UK. I've sent sms invites to join BBM to him but he isn't receiving them. Anyone else having this problem?

Does he receive regular SMS from you? Doesn't seem a BBM issue, seems an SMS issue.

Yes that's how we have been communicating over sms. Seems strange he would get sms texts but not get the sms invite.

Or just ask him to install BBM by visiting the app store for his mobile, and then share BBM PIN and add each other using the PIN

Don't bother I think he doesn't want to install BBM, or probably BBM cannot be installed on his phone.

I get that kind of excuses from friends too because that is a polite way of asking you to continue with SMS or WhatsApp.

I read an article which BBM is try to make a product like twitter, but it is really does not, as mostly the channels saying "not supported in this region". Just because I'm in China? What a silly product.

Today, I don't know who are making an Internet product but not facing the worldwide. But BlackBerry are.

Thx. I dare to surmise in the case of China there are infrastructure limitations, which you may well know better, confining user experience or features. BlackBerry does not go into China big time for a reason. I am sure they wanted to....both Thor & John looked into it.
