    It's initiated from the device (the BBM app), and is tied to that device.

    Its barebones, not sure why the poster mislead you. Currently no Channels, discovery tab, no ability to update your profile or status, no ability to read feeds, no ability to send any media, no ability to quote, no ability to send broadcasts, no ability to call or send Voicenote, no ability to send emoji or stickers. Literally all you can do is chat... there is still a bug that doesn't display any profile pics from contacts and groups

    Official bbm version for 3.14 was released this morning and doesn't contain the bbm desktop yet. Based on the lack of features and bugs would imagine we are a couple of messages months away from release. Last 2 beta have included bbm desktop then pulled it from release versions
