    With the most recent update Blackberry now seems to be able to suggest contacts(maybe they already did I just didn't notice). Does anyone know if this is done via uploading of your address book to blackberry servers?

    probably just done by scanning your address book right on your device.

    I think it does. which contacts with email have bbm cannot be known unless all contact are sent to BlackBerry server to be checked.
