Yes and you can go back to BB version for $5/yr and it’s billed only $2.50/ six months. Great deal unless you like FB Messenger or WhatsApp as free alternative other than data mining. Take your pick. Either way BB isn’t going under giving away free crapps...

Supplying new stickers was a way to create interest and maybe revenues... it didn't work.

BBMe (enterprise) from BlackBerry will soon be on Google Play... they are going to offer it for free for a year. But not stickers, store or channels....

?!?
If it was one of the most loved IM solutions, why was it shut down?!?
Another nail in the coffin I guess. We should have seen this one coming.

Conite, what is the closest thing to the consumer version of BBM that is available for free? I'm interested in an alternative that does not require my phone number to be given to a contact. BBM was perfect because it only required the PIN to be given. I'd also like to have the Sent, Delivered & Read status also like in BBM. Is there something secure that at least has those features?

AFAIK there isn't another one that does NOT require phone number. Maybe I will be corrected?

or maybe there are: Telegram does NOT share your # but does require you to do an initial sign-in for verification and your number remains private.

I sure hope you're wrong about that. I mean that respectfully. The fact that a phone number is not needed to be given to a contact is one of the best security features I've ever seen.

Depends. For both Line and Wechat you need a phone number to register. However you can use a contact ID to connect to others without disclosing the phone number.

Wechat is not private and apparently censored. Fwiw

Telegram is the most full-featured IM app that isn't owned by Facebook (WhatsApp and Messenger).

Yes, you sign-up with a phone number, but you don't have to make it visible to other contacts.
