    First, it's "Bocking"

Second, if true, it's weird we don't see news like this on Crackberry before BGR.

    WTF is up with that?

That typo was kinda funny tho, but didn't see the firing coming tho

MobileSyrup says he left the company (he was NOT fired).

In a statement today, BlackBerry confirmed “that Andrew Bocking, EVP, BBM has made the decision to leave BlackBerry. We thank him for his years of leadership and contribution.”

Bocking was with BlackBerry since 2000 where he started out as a Project Manager, then held various positions within the company until taking the lead on BBM in June of 2013. His LinkedIn profile still shows he’s with BlackBerry and there’s no reason for his sudden departure, nor where he’s heading.

According to BGR, who first broke the news, BlackBerry is once again considering making BBM into a separate company, something that was rumoured when BlackBerry was for sale last year.

BBM, BlackBerry’s popular messaging platform, is currently available on BlackBerry, iPhone and Android and has seen over 80 million downloads. There are also rumours that BlackBerry will be bringing BBM to the desktop in the near future.

I hope his replacement can fix BBM. I still can't send most pictures and some messages reliably to android and IOS contacts. Those contacts tell me they would rather use other messaging apps.

Wasn't Bocking sent over to Sweden to work with BlackBerry Sweden (TAT)?

We will see and, like most things, there is likely more to the story. But, I think this is a big loss - he came across as very passionate about things.

If anyone at Blackberry could justify it, he probably could. I would point out that while there are thousands of Blackberry BBM users, someone at the company needs to use BBM on Android as their daily driver since there are probably going to be more Android users than any other kind of BBM.

The BBM team was put under John Sims of Global Enterprise Solutions at BlackBerry. He was the lead in mobile solutions for SAP. Relax guys. This is Chen putting the right guys in the right place.
