    I have a Q10, wife has a Galaxy S3.
On my berry, while in a chat with someone I hear the notification tone with every line sent to me. On her phone this doesn't work. She hears a notification once and then when she opens the chat with me nothing is heard untill the phone times out/locks. This is annoying as most times she writes back and then puts the phone down and doesnt know if I replied or not, ie my messages hang in the air untill she checks...(phone locks) - kills the whole IM idea...

You'd need to check on the S3 settings, I get notified regardless on my Note 3

Yup.. BBM reliability is very poor across platforms.

Very sad that BlackBerry can no longer deliver quality and re liability!

Sorry, but there is no excuse for such poor performance after months of delays. Messaging is not a complicated application and such willingness to accept poor performance explains why BlackBerry is being laughed into extinction by the rest of the industry.

I'm a huge BlackBerry fan...so it brings me no joy to say this.

No need to kick them while they're down. Just be patient.

People aren't kicking them when they're down... Blackberry is doing it themselves. People just simply move on to another product - and that's been happening for years with Blackberry products.

Notifications is one of the biggest needs of a messaging app, otherwise you have to constantly launch the app to see if you got any messages.

Seriously, how hard can this be to fix? There's a bevy of messaging apps that have notifications working flawlessly, yet Blackberry who keeps touting BBM and wants to make it a revenue source somehow - can't even get a basic function working.

    It's ridiculous.

I have personally convinced several dozen iPhone and Android users to try BBM. With only one exception, they have all given up on it because you can't rely on it.

It is with a sad heart that predict BlackBerry will not survive 2014.

The one person I BBM the most just complained to me about how she gets my messages a good while after they were sent. Just this morning I sent a message at 1130 and at Noon, it still hadn't delivered.

Yea that was kind of a stretch to predict BlackBerry to fail in 14' because your friends don't use the BBM app

I'm pretty sure that those of you who "think" you're not experiencing BBM issues are probably not power users and not even aware that many of your messages and/or notifications are delayed.

It doesn't happen all the time.

As such a user I need instant reliability at all times.the lack of which costs me money...

Actually, I found that BBM reliability on iOS is much better than Android.
Friend on iOS usually gets then fairly quickly, even with the D and R flags. Android is just random, sometimes it goes through right away, sometimes it takes a while.

You're correct that iOS BBM seems more reliable than Android. But reliability is still WAY less than acceptable even on iOS.
