    I don't want advertising and I will not pay a monthly subscription to free myself of the advertising. An annual fee I could live with just so long as it is as insignificant as the WhatsApp fee, which I don't seem to recall ever renewing after my 1st initial payment.

    It seems to me that BlackBerry is doing everything in its power to remove the reasons I use BBM in the first place.

    Totally agree. That's why Whatsapp is worth billions and BBM isn't, despite being the better IM app.

    They are having a problem getting ad purchasers to give them ads to show... So it depends on the country a lot I suspect.
