I know a few of you may dislike this. ..I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not.

There's advantages and disadvantages about this move from BBRY.

    Your thoughts?

I think it's a great way for BlackBerry to get on other people's phone! You can't get better advertising than that

Awesome news. I'm going to try and get all of my friends on it, so I can finally communicate with all of them using the best damn messaging app there is, hands-down.

This will just destroy Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, and everything else.
BBM across all platforms, and for free, will be absolutely amazing,
And BlackBerry can utilise something they have, that no one else has. Us. BlackBerry fans.
No one else can sell their friends, family, strangers on a product, like BlackBerry fans.
Working together, this can be a cross platform communication strategy that renders all else irrelevant.
Today I'm happy to be on TeamBlackBerry.

I think I'm just in shock lol.

Its actually excellent news, but on the other hand...does BB have some type of exclusive option for BB buyers....does anyone think this will make potential sales drop? Seeing as you can use BBM on other platforms I mean.

P.S +2013 on the BBM Channels....I need a Z10 and BB10 on my PB so friggin bad now..

Good news I will finally regain all my contacts that left to other platforms but they now need to find a exclusive feature.

If they pull off the full BBM experience for iOS and Android then who will need anything else? Messaging, voice and video. Groups and channels. This is a broad strategy that could impact social media from Skype to faceboook. Social media and Blackberry security? That is a win.

HMMM HMMM in order to gain something you have to lose something.I dont know BB dont do anything without money involved. How much money do messaging apps make??? Apart from in app adds where's the money?? There's scheming somewhere in here I can see it yet just the NOC keeps coming to mind.

If they bring the BBM ringtones with it, I might have a heart attack. Great idea, very little downside here. Smart play Blackberry

If BlackBerry is that secure then it's a moot point. The other platforms aren't as secure. Why would BlackBerry risk messages being deciphered on a non BlackBerry platform? Counter productive

They're showing that BlackBerry10 means EXCLUSIVITY! Everyone can make a cross platform app, but who has the best OS? That's the race BlackBerry is in now and this is how they're showing it to the world!

I doubt that skype will be 'done'.

The market's reacting negatively, but I think this is ballsy. Reality to me is that BBM *was* important at keeping people on the BlackBerry when there was an beaten old OS. But it still is only as good as the number of people on it, and WhatsApp met the same challenge by going cross-platform.

I'm not convinced BBM has the same weight when it comes to people buying or staying on a BlackBerry 10 device as it did for BlackBerry OS devices.
