    I haven't read alot of detail about both these features but this is what I gather.

    Apple Pay;
    - Targets credit card & debit card holders
    - allows payment to be made via NFC over the counter
    - Uses a Token to process the payment so that the credit card number is not compromised
    - use existing & new POS terminals at the merchant outlets
    - possibly having 40 million users over from next year worldwide
    - only available for iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus users

    BBM Money ;
    - uses a text to transfer money from 1 person to another
    - target the under Banked & un Banked customer
    - texts are encrypted using the same encryption of a credit card transaction worldwide
    - currently has 80 million active users world's
    - can be used on all smartphones
    - transfer phone credits & money worldwide
    - not sure how the transaction is going to be done over the counter in a bigger retail outlet.
    - may not require a POS terminal

    I'm thinking that these 2 services do not compete with each other in the same market however it will be working in different markets. How successful it is will depend on the take up rate of the users.

    I know that in terms of Apple pay, the revenue model for the banks is clear but if Apple will get any share of it remains to be seen. I'm not clear as to how the revenue of BBM money is going to be made available for both BlackBerry, the banks & the network providers.

    Do share your thoughts.

    I agree they seem to be completely different models. One is for commercial use and one is more personal

    I think it should be called "BlackBerry Money" not "BBM Money"

    The problem with "BBM Money" or "Blackberry Money" is that it implies that it's not real money or it something you have to convert to real money. Do you accept this kind of money? How do I turn this into real money?

    Both are equally irrelevant until their is sufficient adoption at store level pay points and this type of payment method is mainstream. There two sides to this type of payment service.

    Completely different models solving different problems. BBM needs to grow aggressively and fast. Others play catch up and take the market because they have better brand appeal and marketing. I hope BlackBerry surprises us soon.
