    And realistically after the job cuts I highly doubt they got that many BlackBerry engineers left to work around the clock.

    OK, here is what I think is happening. iPhone app works but cannot communicate with BBRY phones that have Channels installed, apparently.
    Channels is a new feature that would use new tables and possibly new databases. The beta test is probably running off beta servers.
    If you register your iPhone version, it will go to the production servers' database tables, not the beta servers' database tables so people sending from Channels goes through the beta servers and cannot see your "address".
    I bet BlackBerry is trying to get the production tables to send a message or trigger to update the beta tables real time so that this issue will go away.
    That is the only reason to remove the Apple version from iTunes.
    Setting this up may take a while though.
