The manual for my new Storm 9530 says the network connection will say "3G" when I'm connected to the 3G network, and something like 1EXV otherwise.

So far, no matter where I've gone, I see 1EXV...someone told me that this is the default and I'm already connected to 3G - so is this just an error in the manual?

And if this is as fast as 3G is, I feel bad for those who don't have it =P

That is Verizon's 3G network. It will not say 3G, only outside of the US.

Yup - 1XEV is Verizon's 3G network. EVDO Rev-A kicks anyone else's 3G ****.
