1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.3, found Here
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded. (Choose the Curve 8320)
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
Have some patience, this could take an hour to complete. DO NOT unplug the device until it is finished!
These are the times I hate having a mac. I did ALL of that (couldn't find the vendor file) and had a hard time opening an Exe file. Nothing worked.Didn't work.
I updated the OS, but now I lost my contacts. I never sync my contacts through Device Manager. BUT I did back up my data, so is there anyway I can get the contacts I had? I have them on my SIM, but I had edit them. Going through one by one again is a headache. Is there anyway around this? If not then I guess I have to edit them again and sync through Device Manager so I don't have to do it over. :
I have a BB 8320 Curve from Tmo v4.2.2.171 .after I download the new 4.3 to the PC can you tell me the steps tp follow in detail for the upgrade to 4.2.2.338
Are you looking for your next step in upgrading your device to OS 4.2.2.184? The confusion sometimes stems from the fact that RIM doesn't do a good job in separating the DM versions from the device OS versions. They cause a lot of confusion by naming them so similar.
Having DM 4.3 has nothing to do with the OS 4.2, other than the fact that you can use that DM to update the OS (you can also use DM 4.2).
If you're looking for the next steps to upgrade the OS, just do a search or read the RIM instructions; they're all over the place if you look.
