    I just found out that I could have BBMaps but AT&T doesn't preload it because they want you to have to pay for their GPS. How do it install it on 4.5 OS?

    If you have Desktop Manager installed, click
    application loader, put a check in the BlackBerry
    Maps box and continue through to finish.

    Quick question: I have done that and it shows up in the apps list, but is hidden under all my themes. How do I fix that?

    Under Applications (Options - Advanced Options - Applications) check what the permissions are on the installed theme (highlight the theme, Menu - Edit Permisions, and make sure nothing is Deny).

    They both have pros and cons, try them both and see
    which works for you. It really is personal preference.

    Google maps for me is better. I don't think BB Maps has anything on google. I tried both extensively and it's no competition to me.

    Here's what i did that works Very Well...

    You have DM already, do you have the device-specific driver/application package for your handheld model, installed on you PC.

    The OS’s downloads can be found here:
    BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites

    Look~Up your model, download, instill.

    Now start~up DM & REMOVED BBmaps (Uncheck the Box)
    Run Application Loader & let it run to the end.

    RE-Boot computer.

    Delete the "vendor.xml" file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    Next... Do a Search for the "LBS.alx" file.

    Will be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\v4.2.2.170
    Note: The folder name under Loader Files may differ depending on your OS version installed on your device.
    I'm running v4.2 over here.

    Open the LBS.alx file with a text editor, Notepad or WordPad will work.
    If use "Wordpad" make sure you save~it as a Text Doc. MS-DOS format.

    Look inside that file for lines like this:
    Note: each devices version may have differing Coding lines but look "Similar".

    <fileset SystemSize="normal" Colour="True" Java="1.0"_vendorID="~102|124|137|119|162|142|183| 147|217" series="8310">
    <fileset SystemSize="normal" Colour="True" Java="1.0"series="8310">

    * DELETE all References to “_vendorID=…..” and device codes.
    when i got done, mine looked like this...

    <fileset SystemSize="normal" Colour="True" Java="1.0">

    Note: NO SPACES and leave the > symbol at the end.

    Save the file using the same "LBS.alx" name.

    Each devices ".alx" is slightly different, any notations to vendor/device codes removed will do the trick.

    Hook~up your BB, start DM, run Application Loader. Check box for BBMaps continue to the end.

    BBMaps will now have a Nice little Icon there on your HomeScreen...
    Resend Service Books & Your Good To Go...!

    I'm on AT&T also, and this worked on all (5)of my BB's.

    And here's something -Interesting...
    When i Search inside that file (on my Puter here) i come upon this:

    <!-- For 8310 series, hide the icon for Cingular (102), Vodafone Germany (124), Vodafone Austria (137) and all Orange properties. -->

    Mmmm... A song comes to mind here "Smooth Criminal...!"

    Hope this Helps You Out...

    BBMaps does not work with OS 4.5. Sorry.

    However, there are several other map apps you can download that do work. I suggest checking out the GPS forum here.
