Looks RIM is going to $99 based on weekend demand. A little too quick in my opinion but I haven't bought yet so saves me some $$$ if it's in fact true.

Well that was both a yawner and wrong, since Amazon came out of the gate on the 12th with a $99 price. No RIM slashing at all.

"The new $99 price, with a two-year contract with AT&T, is for sale on Amazon and other Websites, while AT&T still has it listed for $199. It emerged after lackluster reports described the Torch's launch as underwhelming and "not hot enough."
Awe. $99 should have been the price from the beginning!

Yes, definitely misleading article as Wirefly also had the $99 price on launch day. Not RIM's doing as Wirefly buys/sells more phones than AT&T.

Well guys, I was in the mountains last week and did not have the option of going to the store Thursday. I called AT&T today and asked what the best price I could get was...yep $99.00. $118 and change with tax. I was shocked but I was not about to ask any questions. So there may be some truth to it.

The author of this article is an unedited @sshat. The most egregious of several errors in fact is this:

"With BlackBerry, users are also saddled with AT&T, whose service and data plan pricing system can be problematic."

Though she may well be referring to the Torch, it certainly isn't written that way and as-is sounds like Blackberrys, like iPhones, only run on ATT's network.

Great article and on the money, you people are in denial. The phone is a slopjack effort and will be $50 by mid October.

A colossal flop from Rim here, very much like Storm 1 was, they really must believe the consumer is stupid.

For $200 you can have your pick of Droids and the Iphone , heck for $99 you could get the 3gs which is as good a phone as it gets.

If you paid $200 plus clams for this thing, wow.
Pretty much. The sad reality is BlackBerry is now a featurephone.

Why do you care how people spend their money? The people here aren't idiots. They bought a product that fits their needs.

He or she doesn't care, they want to feel better about themselves by making others feel unsure about their own choices while inciting conflict. It's a scream for attention and a hope for validation.

Not sure which is worse, the article or the trolls here. In 2 months when my contract is up I'll get the 9800.

I wouldn't use an iphone or droid if they were free, toys are for kids.

RIMM shot themselfs in the foot, think about this, more tmobile customers would have upgraded and got this phone, rather then att. ATT already has the iphone, tmobile could have used a device like this to get all those customers to upgrade from there 8520s or even the 9700.
