This will be my first BB. I had the VZ Navigator for my current regular cellphone, but never experienced it with a smart phone. It seems as if there are apps out there that don't require a $10 monthly fee, but I don't know if they're exactly like a portable GPS, where it recalculates and saves all your previous searches and favorites.

Are there apps with a cheaper fee or free that's just as good, if not better than the VZ navigator?

Garmin is way better then VZ Navigator

It costs 80$ but that's only 8 months of VZ Navigator

Would the account be transferable to a new phone if a mishap should occur with my phone or if I upgrade?
