I have. Installation went smoothly. So far nothing to report. The phone "seems" to be a little quicker overall. It reconnected to my home wireless network on its own. (previous upgrades required making a new connection with my router...) That's about it for now.
works flawlessly as of now, even shows progress bar when sending an attachment in email. Didn't notice that in any other version. By default everything is set to silent on "normal" profile, so you have to change that.
Downloaded and installed the Vodafone De version from Blackberry site. Does seem a little quicker, but new versions always seem to be. Other than that, don't really notice any improvements.
What I don't like in this version is that they've done away with that fade out of the home screen icons, I was pretty used to that. Also, I seem to have a pretty big memory leak, lost about 6mb after five minutes of just letting the phone sit there.
Another negative is that this version loads my pic folder with all sorts of picture frames and icons, I've tried Crackmem, Maxmem, and ShrinkmyOs to get rid of them but they're pretty stubborn.
Not impressed so I'm going back to .681, my favorite of the 5.0's. Only thing I don't like about .681 is that when my phone is on Standby and I get a voicemail, once I unlock the phone all of my message folders are open. Funny nobody else seems to have that issue, but I guess I'll just deal with it.
Installed 3 days ago. everything works fine, I dont notice any changes at all from my previous version. I had .509 or 503 (not sure), its been a while since I did an OS upgrade. Had to reset one of my installation code for a purchased application but thats about it. battery life is great, sound profiles work, runs like a champ. This is one solid phone I have to say, I have been using the 8900 for 2 years now without any problems.
when editing my ringtones, it STILL doesn't preview the sound sometimes like on .822, but it's not a massive issue to me. battery is great been doing all sorts of things on it today and lasted at 29 percent for ages!
ill tell you what i dont like at all about this version. When i listen to music with it, i NEED to be in the media player to change the track , lower or higher the volume, oh and btw , i no longer press the mute button to pause the track, UNLESS IM IN THE MEDIA PLAYER.
i hate that so much since i listen to music alot in
I had .900. I don't recommend it. Not familiar with how these things work -- I'm new to the club -- but two things I noticed:
1) After coming back from standby, your battery would get OBLIVATED. One example: started the morning with 90-95%, took a flight, turned my phone off for a few, spent the next 3 hours listening to music, then turned it off and on once more for the landing. I had around 25-30% battery left at the end of the flight. Another time I lost a similar amount in around 4 hours or so (barely touched the phone that time).
2) If I left my phone on wifi for too long, I'd "stop" receiving BBMs. They'd come in bursts every 10-15 min or so. It's something I never noticed until I installed .900. Imagine missing a good 15 minutes of group chatting, and then getting those messages all at once, out of sync, and then having the group "die" for another 10-15, then receiving everything at once ...
Sorry for the novel. But after my experience with .900, I wouldn't recommend it.
