Hi everyone,

I dusted off an old BlackBerry KEYone for 20€ (variant BBB100-2, it's not dual-SIM and is European) running Android 8, and I’m completely stuck in the initial Google setup wizard. Hoping someone here has dealt with this.

The problem:
- During first-time setup, when it reaches the Google step, it tells me Google Assistant is not available because the device is too old, and the wizard freezes there – I can’t move forward.
- I tried to complete setup offline to skip that step, but on the “Connect to a Wi-Fi network” screen there is NO “Skip” / “Continue offline” option at all. It simply won’t let me proceed without connecting.
- So it’s a catch-22: with internet it hangs on Assistant, without internet it won’t let me past the Wi-Fi screen.

What I’ve already tried:
- Force reboots (power held down).
- Looking for a hidden “Skip” at the bottom of the network list – not there.
- Connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot with no real internet, hoping the verification would time out and unlock a “Skip” – no luck.
- Trying to reach stock recovery to factory reset via hardware keys. The only boot menu I can get (Volume Up or Volume Down + Power) shows: Barcodes / Continue the bootup / Reboot into fastboot / Turn off the device. There is no Recovery or Wipe data / factory reset option in that menu, with either volume key.
- ADB isn’t an option since I can’t enable USB debugging (can’t get past setup to reach Developer options).

Where I’ve landed: no where.

Can someone help me some way?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
