getting started with blackberry software development

Hello everyone, I am interested in doing bb software development and I would like to convert the java applets that I have on my web site:

to midlets for display on the bb.

Can someone suggest how to get started, i.e. books, tutorials, etc? I have the JDE setup and I have seen some programming examples on other forums but I have yet to find some good basic tutorials on how to get a good foundation and get going.
