Simple answer is no, DM 5.0.1 will not work with Windows 7, use DM 6 and you should be fine.

I thought there was issues with DM 5.0.1 and Windows 7. I thought the easiest thing was go to DM 6, please correct me if I'm wrong.

    I've used DM 5.0.1 and DM 6.0 successfully with Windows 7 64-bit.

DM5, DM6, even DM4.7 works just fine with Windows 7.

There are no issues with DM 5.0.1 or other versions and Windows 7, whether 32-bit or 64-bit.

There are issues with any version of DM lower than 6 and Office 2010 32-bit. DM 6 works great with Office 2010 32-bit.

No DM version will work with Office 2010 64-bit, which you should not install anyway. There are no gains going to 64-bit Office unless you work with 2+ GB spreadsheets, and in that case you are insane anyway! RIM probably will not support 64-bit Office because it will be less than 5% of user base. Don't confuse 64-bit Windows with 64-bit Office. Two different things.

That being said, DM 6 works but has some quirks that are annoying. On every PC we have installed it on it does weird stuff. It does not report your last sync or backup dates properly. It also backs up the phone every time you connect on some PC's, even if you set it to monthly. To get around this, we have been setting it to prompt before backups. Other than that, it sync's fine, and the built in media syncing is a welcome addition for me.

I screwed up, the issues are with outlook 2010 and DM 5, not Windows 7, sorry.
