What all does "restoring a backup" from the desktop manager do?

What I mean is, does it wipe your phone or just restore settings back to whatever they were when you made the backup.

I do not have an OS installed on my PC. I have the desktop manager and have a "back up" made using that.

When I hit "restore" what exactly is going to happen?

    Thanks!

It will restore your phone to the way it was when you did the backup. any new apps, messages, phone logs, yada yada will not be loaded back on. Think of it like the system restore feature on a PC.

Thanks. Is there a way to look at the backup before I restore it to see what all it has? Is there a way to compare the apps and things on my phone now to what the back up is?
