How did this news from RIM itself slip under our radar screen?

Sounds promising, but will it be full-featured, with OS upgrading and backup capabilities, or will it just be a syncing application?

    Hope it's not just syncing.

I don't trust anyone except may be a RIM official for this type of news. Even the first rumor about RIM developing a native DM, I don't trust. I sure there is one internally but people who receive calls or emails from us are not the one who has sufficient amount of responsability to have a general vision of RIM's activities, especially development part.

I'll believe it when I have it installed and working on my MacBook Pro.

Hope this is true. They should release it if it's in beta.

This sure would be nice. Even with Missing Sync installed having to Boot Camp into Windows XP just to update my OS or backup applications is a pain.

It would explain the complete lack of progress on anything mac OS related with the Rim software.

Looks like the last time anything was posted on RIM'w web site was the end of June. Anyone know of any updates? Any way to be a beta tester??

    I sure hope not!

I too would jump at the opportunity to beta test a Mac-native version of Desktop Manager.

Someone at MacRumors posted back in early June that he knew a beta tester; if true that means we are nearing 2 months of testing (at least). I'm still predicting October, but I am going to email [email protected] every day in hopes that I will catch someone who will slip up and give me some info.

I'm surprised Pete6 hasn't come in here with marketshare numbers.

I hear ya. I went out and bought a Acer netbook at Walmart for 270 bucks.
