I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but searching didn't come up with anything useful. I'm trying to update my BBOS via though virtualbox on Linux. My virtual machine is the only Windows install I have access to. I have virtualbox to automatically connect my BB USB. I can do backups just fine, but as soon as the process moves to "connecting to boot ROM" my phone gets stuck in a boot loop. It will turn off, red light, screen comes on and starts loading for a second or so, then repeats. This is a far as I can get...

Anyone have any help to offer?

couldn't you just make a partition to install an actual Windows copy? and just use an actual Windows UI.. but i'm not sure if you can have a Linux OS and Win OS on the same drive. Just a thought.

Yeah, but it's a pain in the *** to go through all that effort to do one thing and I'd like to avoid it if I can.

Virtual box is a lot less USB friendly in my experience. I had my best luck with Vmware.

The problem is always the hardware virtualization...

i don't know man.. i partitioned my drive for two different Win OS's and the longest part of it was actually installing the OS's, the partitioning is cake. and you're not doing it for just one thing.. you're doing it so you can have a smooth backup process and anything else you can do in BB Manager... is that what it's called? I use Link now so i forget what the previous one was called lol
