    Hey all,

Sorry for the trouble, but i've been having problems trying to update my Blackberry Application Loader in my BB Desktop Manager.

I just downloaded the BB Desktop Manager in my new laptop, and everytime i try to update my OS, they tell me that my

"BB App Loader needs to be updated before you can continue. Do you want to want to update it now?"

When I click yes, a popup says

"Existing BB software has been detected, on you computer and must be closed before proceeding. Disconnect your device and click OK to close these applications. Otherwise click cancel to stop the installation."

When I disconnect my BB and click OK, the updater flashes for a bit, and then the BB Desktop opens again and the whole cycle repeats itself.

They tell me that the BB App loader needs to be updated again.

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you so much!

I am having the same issue. Running Desktop Manager as an administrator doesn't help either.

What's worse is that it used to work so this is rather new behaviour.

I had similar problem. I deleted it and then re installed again. It worked.

The device transfer wizard also seems to have the same issue BTW, although since that one is used less often you guys might not have noticed that one yet.

For some inexplicable reason Desktop Manager managed to successfully update for me today. Just as I was getting close to a different solution.

It seems that Desktop Manager is downloading the update to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Apploader.msi

So if you copy that file and then install that one yourself instead of letting Desktop Manager do it you should be able update without whatever is causing the problem getting in the way.

ok well when i got to the point of upgrading, it said i needed to upgrade my dm in which i did. however when i went to upgrade the dm, it experienced the similar probs the OP said. I simply deleted the DM i had and threw it in trash-deleted the trash. I re downloaded the new DM from my carrier's website. Once downloaded, it allowed me to upgrade my device's OS. I hope this works out for you.
