Unable to media sync in Desktop Manager
I'm reposting from general general discussion because I got no replies. I'm trying to move media from computer to BB and vice versa using my Curve 9330 and Desktop Manager. I'm on XP SP3, BB Desktop Software 6.0.2.44, OS 6.0.0.431. I did a clean uninstall of the previous desktop software, reinstalled, updated drivers on all of my USB port hubs under my hardware device manager, updated the drivers on the BB under hardware device manager, restarted, then tried starting up the DM and connecting again, same problem.
I have tried fixes http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=538633 and http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=203575 and countless other places.
The phone is connected. DM can see it, it knows my PIN and phone number, it allows me to sync organizer and backup. It will not allow me to sync media. On the main DM screen if I select music, pictures, or videos, I get a screen which says "A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your BlackBerry Device." and gives me a link to the DM help doc. If I select Device Options, on the first tab the check box for media sync is greyed out, but organizer and date and time are available. If I select the media tab, it tells me media options are not available.
I'm on Verizon. I don't currently have a media card in the phone because I don't own one yet that fits in it, and I want to get my pictures off my phone and onto my computer. I don't see any options on my computer to start media synch separately from the DM. It looks like it's all rolled up into one app. I can't access any phone files using Windows Explorer, because it tells me to insert a disc into the drive. If I check properties on the removable drives on my computer, the BB shows up under the hardware tab but I can't access any files on it. When I go to safely remove hardware, my phone is listed as a USB mass storage device but I can't access any files on it.
I've been searching for days trying to find someone having the same problem as me, and I only found one place which was a two year old thread.
