i have a question i have a blackberry curve 8330 on telus running 4.5.0.169 can i just run the bbm5.0.alx through the desktop manager without copying the cod files

I'm still using Desktop Manager v4.7 and I'm constantly getting the automatic update icon for Desktop Manager v5.0.1. After selecting "update" 5 mins goes by it says downloaded complete, then immediately says I need to download Desktop Manager v5.0.1 again.

According to my device my os is .293 my os files on my pc {C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\YourDeviceOSHere\} are .174 & .267?
