    I apologize if this has been discussed; I did a couple of searches and could not find any information that matches my exact problem.

    I have an 8800 user who is very frustrated because when he reads and then deletes messages from his desktop (Outlook 2003 on an Exchange server), the emails still appear on his device as unopened.

    I have verified that his settings are correct, wireless reconcile is on, mailbox wins on conflicts. I have even done a "reconcile now" from the device. Nothing works. Emails have to be physically deleted from the device. The reverse is not true: deleting from the device also deletes from the mailbox.

    I have deleted the Desktop [Sync] from the device and re-sent the Service Book, I have rebooted the device, I have re-sent the IT policy -- I'm out of ideas.

    Does anyone have any ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

    Is there any update for this issue, I am having exactly the problem with a number of my users, I think, but not 100% sure this may have only started happening after we updated to BES 4.1.6.10.

    We�re running a number of different model handhelds, including 8100, 8300, 8310, 8700g, 8800 & 8820�s, and they all seem to have inherited the same problem, changes in Outlook are no replicated to the handhelds.

    We are also running the same BES software -- 4.1.6.10, SP6. I am going to see if there are any hotfixes or maintenance releases that might address this problem and I will report back when I hear something.

    Ok, I finally got this working after a fashion by enabling the "Hard Deletes Reconciliation" which had been automatically set to FALSE after upgrading the BES to 4.1.6.10SP6, after changing this to TRUE and restarting the MDS Connection Service, emails that were deleted from Outlook were now being removed from the handhelds.

    To get to the option do the following, logon to the BES, select the "Server Configuration" tab, click "Edit Properties", select the "Messaging" option, and under the "Messaging Options" change the "Hard Deletes Reconciliation" from FALSE to TRUE, finally go to your BES MDS server and restart the services, for a couple of my users I did have to resend the service books, but this was litterally only for 3 or 4 users out of 75

    i have a 8830 with the same problem. forwarded your solution to our IT guy who tried it to no avail.
    any other ideas? any other possible sources of insight? such a little thing is making me crazy!!!

    Another cause, I recently discovered: if an email is deleted from the desktop and then the deleted items folder is emptied before the email has a chance to hit our BES, the email will remain on the BlackBerry, unread, until it is manually deleted. We have one very efficient user who keeps his inbox very clean and frequently empties his deleted items throughout the day. As it can take 15 minutes or so for reconciliation to occur, he often deletes emails before they even appear on his BlackBerry. We've asked him to be "less efficient" and stop emptying the deleted items and this seems to have solved the problem for him.

    Has anyone seen issues where an email will be pushed to the device and then later revoked without being read on either the device or in Outlook? The message still appears as unread in Outlook but is no where to be seen on the device.
