After the new DM debacle, I deleted it and installed DM 6.1. When I start DM I get an error message that says the "Application Loader requires the Device Manager to be installed. Contact cutomer support". What is this all about. I thought I just installed it.

I click "ok" to the error message and plug in my 9810. Now I watched DM "initializing device" for the last 40 minutes. I have never had this before. Finally I unplug the phone and guess what...it still keeps "initiallizing the device". I can't close DM because it is still perpetually "initializing device". Before loading the DM debacle I had 6.1 installed and never had an issue with it. I then have to use Task Manager to close DM. I restart DM and plug in my phone and you would never guess what happens..."initializing device". Lucky me! What gives?

I checked the other articles and found no answer that will help me. What am I missing?

maybe do what i did, delete every trace of DM of your pc, restart it, and do another clean install of 6.1 from the ATT website.

    good luck

Also remember to reboot after install of 6.1 before trying to run (should prompt you anyways). I first did system restore. Back to 6.1 and ran into same issues that you described. Uninstall everything (including settings), scrub w/ Ccleaner, reinstall, reboot, attach your device and let Windows recognize device (which should bring back Device Manager), then start Desktop Manager.

I would check task manager for residue of the program still running...
