    Hi,
does anyone know a way to extract data (e.g. addres book) from an IPD backup file?
I know that there is an application with the name ABC converter
But I want to know if the structure of the IPD file is known and if it is might be possible to write an application to extract particular data.

    Cheers

    Stefan

Are you looking to restore specific data from a backup file to a phone or just extract address book data to a spreadsheet or something like that?

Not just restoring specific data ( this can be done by Desktop Manager)
Let's say the data on the BB are corrupted and need to be fixed.. it would be nice to access the data..correct them and put them back to BB device

ABC has a free trial. You might try it to see if if can do what you want. The folks who created it obviously understand the IPD structure. I haven't seen it documented anywhere.

I do have a ABC full version. but unfortunately this software does not support all fields in address book.. example home and home 2 mobile and mobile 2
It has only the standard fields(not the one with 2 etc.)
It would be nice to have a documentation of the IPD structure..and then it is might be possible to create an own application.
