    I'm getting this error after the new version downloads, then tries to install.

    I click OK and all closes.

    Cannot install.

    There's a few other people seeing this error too so figured I'd start a thread for help.

    My Dell is running Windows 7 and is 2 months old. I used wifi to do the download.

    Advice or fixes?

    Had the same issue, looks like RIM has a corrupted file. I'll wait a day before I try again.

    I did that too. Like I said, I'll glad to know it just isn't my laptop messing up!

    I'm sure it'll be fixed.

    Do we need this update for the PlayBook OS2? Can't we update the PB wifi? I haven't received my PB yet, soon.

    Yeah, something's wrong here - The Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package was distributed back in 2008 so it's unlikely it's suddenly no longer available on our XP/Vista/7 boxes.

    I tried an SP1 reinstall which didn't help, but if anyone else wants to try, the files are at

    x86 - https://forums.crackberry.com/e?link...token=zUwo-QUh
    x64 - Download: Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

    Now it's annoying that every time I run Desktop Manager, the "Do you want to upgrade to 7.0.0.43" window opens up ...

    Yes. I turned off the notify me of updates.

    So did the update uninstall the C++?

    I did a Google search for C++ and found a download. Once I ran it I was able to install DM7.

    I'm using Windows 7 Pro (32) & it’s demanding the C+++ install. This doesn't make sense. This has to be a RIM error.
