Trying to customize my phone and learn more about it. Basically, which desktop manager do you recommend? Do I just go with the newest/updated one? I've searched and there are a lot of mix opinions.

DM 4.6... most everybody here recommend DM 4.6... DM 4.7 has some bugs with upgrading your OS and a few other things.... you can get it by clicking on the Desktop Manager link in my signature below.

Up to you... some say without... I have it, but it's really only good to move ringtones onto the phone itself... other then that you can get and store your music and photos on your SD card.

I tried it with the media but it made my computer start up slower, then I tried it without the media and it went back to normal.

I was using 4.6 until the other day when it decided to have a problem reading outlook. I downloaded 4.7 from the T-Mo site and it seems to work fine. Hopefully all the bugs are gone.

Yah. 4.7 is not as bad as everyone says. It works fine for me at work and on a laptop in addition to 5.0.
