    Hey all,

I just wanted to know if I was supposed to download the Desktop Manager 5.0 on my computer if I have the 4.5 OS on my curve 8330...or should I have the Desktop Manager 4.5 software on my computer since that is my OS?

    Thanks!

I think the newest is 4.7 but most recommend 4.6 because of some problems with 4.7. Have not heard of 5.0 but any of the managers will work just more options.

I just downloaded the new Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 and i keep getting errors on it and then it shuts down...it also doesn't have the 'Move Up' ' Move Down' buttons that the previous version had....I think I should have just left it alone...it's not like I can see some big change that made it worth it....any suggestions

I have been running DM 5.0 for a while now. 4.6 is definitely more problem free. As mentioned, stay away from 4.7

Does the Desktop Manager software version have anything to do with the OS that I am running on my curve? I have OS 4.5.0.77 and I have DM v5.0, should I be running DM v4.5 since I have the OS 4.5, or it doesn't matter? Thanks!

It doesn't matter if your OS on the Curve and the version number of the Desktop manager do not match. They have nothing to do with each other.

I put DM 5.0 on today. Seems OK. I don't use it for much besides backing up my BB or removing apps I tried and didn't care for.

If I have OS 4.5.0.77 on my Curve 8330, does it matter which version I have as a Desktop Manager? I currently have DM v5.0.

DM v5.0 is fine. It doesn't matter.

Been using DM 5.0 for a couple days with 4.5.160/.131 OS hybrid and haven't had any problems. Especially like the faster syncing.

I was actually having problems with 4.6 so I downloaded 4.7 and haven't had a problem since.

My Curve has v4.5.0.77 and when I tried using DM 5.0 to load apps, it kept saying 'Fatal error has occured while updating your device software. Please try again.' I uninstalled/reinstalled several times and couldn't get it to work. I'm trying DM 4.5 now to see if that makes any difference.

DM 4.5 does not give me the option to install BlackBerry Messenger... any ideas?

You have to manually download the BB Messenger 5.0 to your computer first, since it wasn't officially released yet. It will not show up on the Desktop Manager as a software update.

I tried that, and BBM 5.0 shows up under 'Options-- Applications', but there's no icon on the main screen to use it. Also, using DM 5.0, when I try to install Black Messenger with Application Loader, it keeps saying 'A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again'

Also, when I try to install BBM 5.0 using Application Loader (DM 5.0), it says 'This application is not compatible with your device and cannot be loaded'

I keep trying to use it to install updates to 'Help' and "BlackBerry Messenger' and I keep getting the 'fatal error' message

DM v4.6 only lists the applications I already have, but doesn't give me the option to add anything new. I'm going out of my mind with this.

You can always try to go through your loader in your RIM folder. My Computer> (C: )> Program Files> Common Files> Research In Motion> Apploader. And from there just click the loader and see if it says there is an update for those two specific things.
