If the DM 4.3 is officially offered on a carrier's BIS website (which links the user to RIM to download it), does that make it released by RIM, or official?
As quoted above, seems that this url doesn't link straight from RIM to download but from their ftp (ftp2.smartone-vodafone.com). File Transfer Protocol, if my memory serves me right, this is how I drag and drop my huge files to my server. Which means it isn't RIM's, right? Or is there something that I do not understand about FTPs?

i'm with naviwilliams ... until i see it on a RIM website its not an "official" launch ... but IMHO i think that they prob just released it out to the carriers and somehow this link got put out before RIM wanted it to for the general public ...
This is being released because the 8120 is being released. I'm guessing that Verizon will be posting this version as well very soon to go with their 8130.
HAHAHAHA, yeah navi. I'm with you. Okay already
That is so funny!!!
Anyway, let us not argue about this since this is really irrelevant. Unless I am getting a cut for promoting this (negative or positive), I ain't staying in this subject. Now let's dance!
I agree I think I will wait until it is released by my carrier. Do we think the handheld OS will be carrier specific or a universal download from the RIM website?

This thread is about Desktop Manager, not a handheld OS.
You will notice above it has been released on the RIM site, which pretty much means it is available for any carrier's device.
Even if this same version of Desktop Manager is released by your carrier I still wouldn't load it. Verizon is shipping it with their 8130's, but it's not a stable version.
As far as Handheld OS, they only come from the carriers. However, you can load an OS from another carrier as long as it's for the same model BB.
