Does blend for android work well? I still want to be able to transfer files back and forth from my Android tablet and my passport in addition to being able to access my emails,bbm,sms etc.

Your mileage may vary as there are so many different versions of Android. I used it on my Nexus 5 tablet without issue. You should go ahead and install it and see how it works for you.
