I read that the people working on Blackberry Blend/Link were laid off a couple of months ago.
    Can anyone confirm this?

I'm not really surprised by this if Blackberry really goes Android. But it's a shame those two applications may not be improved in the future...

I read that on reddit. I can't link the page as I'm still a "newbie" on this forum. But look for the post "Will BlackBerry abandon BBOS?" from a few days ago. I'm actually looking for some sort of source or confirmation.

That makes sense. If they are not going forward with BlackBerry 10 OS, no need to have Blend. The two go hand in hand. BlackBerry 10 and Blend both would be in maintenance mode. Since they are going Android, there are many apps that do the same thing. Blend won't be needed.

Blend is part of the BlackBerry Android Software Suite.

I also believe Blend is rather unique bringing the full HUB to the desktop - along with integrated file management. All in a secured pipe.

Blend gets mentioned often, but people tend to forget about Link, that is used to synchronise locally via USB, and do backups.

Yep, I doubt the Blend team has been laid off, like someone said above, it is part of the BlackBerry Security Suite that they plan to release. Granted maybe they laid off the employees to hire developers that can write it for the other platform? Guess we'll have to wait and see
