ok i downloaded bdm 5.0 didnt receive any errors i try to add my services books to the backup and it wont do anything at all so i try to uninstall it i get an error and it wont let me continue. i have windows vista home 32bit and a blackberry 8350i

Lets take this a step at a time.

You were able to download the BlackBerry Destop Manager v5.0.1 from BlackBerry Support.

Have you installed it on your computer? Use Windows / Control Panel / Programs to verify it is installed correctly.

Next, have you installed a copy of your 8350i software? It will be in the control panel too.

yes i downloaded that installed desktop 5.1 but i dont have the 8350i software is that why i cant click anything in the desktop manager?

Yes. The advantage to making it two part, it is simple to upgrade either part.

Once you have the correct OS installed, or an OS that meets anothers carriers approval process, you will have full control over your BlackBerry OS build.

Yeah, that should be no problem. The version of DM and your bberry do not need to be the same. They are different from each other
