need some help, lost my password for my backup file is there any way to retrive the information?

There is no backdoor into a password protected device or file. The password on the backup file will be the same as the password on your device.

my original storm got run over day before yesterday, trying to retreive my phone book information for my new phone.

If you only lost your Storm two days ago, why do you not know your password? If you stopped using a password some time ago, do you have a more recent backup? If you have upgraded your OS, that will have made a backup as well.

no i don't have a more recent backup.(Beleive me i wish i did) would me tryin to load the backup to a differant device affect anything?

or am i screwed w/o the password, ? any way to find it in a registry or something?

I've never tried to restore a password-protected backup on a different device. If it worked, it would be a huge hole in RIM's security. You have nothing to lose by trying it, but I don't think you will be successful. There is no way to recover a password other than to remember it.
