I had a nice working 1.2.0 Blackberry LINK working..
Tried to install 1.2.1 and it destroyed my working 1.2.0 which I cannot get a new install exe for, and I cannot get rid of the 1714 error looking for an old BlackBerry LINK msi !
I am dead in the water, and BB help desk is blaming Windows.
WTF is wrong with LINK ?
I am a pretty savy IT type..
Tried turning off the virusscan, slash and burn the Registry and C:\ of RIM, CCleaner, installing/uninstalling 7.1.0 Desktop..
NOTHING works...
What Registry item is it looking for???

It might have something to do with windows automatically troubleshooting and searching on the net to solve it. Try shutting that off in the control panel. That helped me a lot on my win7 pro system. Far less stalling and shutting down. However almost as bad as itunes for slowness. Crikey. Good luck.

Shutting off the automatic online troubleshooter worked for me as well.

Tbh most of links errors are windows, anti virus related. Had tons of problems with it, till I simply bought a new hdd installed a fresh win7 (64) copy and all problems related to w/e I had the time disappeared. Most OEM hdd are either re used or repaired so changing it early on makes a world of difference.

And error 1714 usually is a damaged or corrupt file that can't be un installed (hence hdd problems).
