As detailed by Alex Thurber in a recent podcast interview the BlackBerry Priv will not be updated to Android 7 Nougat, and the DTEK series may also find a similar fate.

In hindsight i'd say even the KeyONE is a stop gap test bed to test out if 40,000 odd keyones produced over a 13 month period & sold at 500-600$ turn a decent profit after tax and royalties paid to BlackBerry, to move on to a new pkb device in 2018.

And it won't be pretty if krypton is another tcl reference design and cut short at Android 0.

I just jumped priv ship & landed onto S8 miraculously 3 days ago. Never going back to AndroBerry anymore.

Yeah. It does suck a little. I was really hoping to get the update for the split screen mode and various battery improvements but hey, at least we still getting the security updates. .

I'm actually getting a brand new Priv delivered today so will be keeping that for at least 2 years, and would have been nice to have Nougat to play with. Oh well.

More reasons the Samsung, LG, Google, Sony and HTC flagships are a much better purchase than any of these Android-powered BlackBerries.

Unless you're like me and are a die-hard PKB person.
At least the average Android slab is wide enough to type on the VKB - the wife had an iPhone 5 and it was so hard to type on that I wanted to hurl it against the wall.
