The BBID infrastructure is shutting down on that date - meaning no ability to backup/restore with Link/Sachesi/DBBT, no BlackBerry Protect, and no ability to wipe/autoload devices without disabling BlackBerry Protect and removing BBID on device prior to Jan 4th.

Backend services were previously exempted from the BB10 EOL date of Dec 31st 2019.

We can always side-load BB10 world apps (the few that are worthy) right?

and can still use the side loaded android apps.....for as long as google supports that older android run-time?

I still see plenty of bb10 device out there in the wild (Toronto and Southern Ont) mainly among older folk, government employees, trades people, and those wanting to separate personal from business.

Prior to the end of the year, disable Protect, and then wipe (or autoload). Skip signing in to a BBID.

You should still be fine with email, sms, and sideloaded apps.

I think we will "know" pretty quickly if it's a sucess in the eyes of most here.... just by seeing the specs and the price.

Now if Onward only plans to sell 10K of them, and it's $1,000 year with a required $1,200 a year subscription. They as a company might be still be successful, even without most CrackBerry users here.

I was curious about... why Jan 4? In 2022, that's a Tuesday.

If it was this coming Jan. It would have made more sense. The 4th is the Monday after New Years (which is usually a Holiday and happens to fall on a Friday in 2021).

Maybe Mondays are filled with meetings all day.
