I have it loaded, but not active, so I can't say if it works in conjunction with the hub or not.

Telegram has no BB10 app and likely never will. Running the Android version on BB10 will very likely run into the same limitations as running the Android version of WhatsApp, chief among them being that a future update to the app may kill its ability to run inside BB10's dated Android runtime.

So essentially what you are telling us is: switch from an app that is still supported but only for the next 60ish days, to an app that is already unsupported on our platform.

Wasn't there a contest about 2 years ago to develop a BB10 Telegram app? Anything significant that happened after that event?

I did use Telegram ages ago on bb10, from memory I think it did show in hub, but with no native app it didn't always run smooth.

None of the native Telegram clients for BB10 have been updated in some time last I checked.

The official Android version of Telegram (via the Google Play Store) runs great for me and I do get Hub notifications.

The Telegram app format and features are the same as the old BBM. What makes Telegram a better contender to replace WhatsApp?

I would say the use of phone number to register. This is already available on BBM however not valid for BlackBerry 10 phones only.

I´ve been using Telegram on my BB10 Passport for some months now, alongside Whattsapp and BBM.
As opposed to the other two, Telegram does NOT display in Hub. Apart from that, it´s OK. Admitted, not better than BBM, but then most of my contacts are not using BBM, so I need other platforms as well!
Whatsapp has already once postponed its planned shutdown for BB10 phones for 6 months, I´m taking in bets as to when the next postponement ill be announced...

I'm using the "social im for telegram" I'm very happy with it, it is NOT integrated into the hub like whatsapp, but you get notifications in the hub when a new message has arrived.

You can get it on the blackberry world.

That app does not do private chats though, which makes it pointless for me.
