The RoboVac by Eufy is their own take on the modern cleaning machine – the robotic vacuum cleaner. Previously, I had the opportunity to do a review on the 11S model, and I’m following that up with the most recent model, the 30C. The 30C has a lot of improvements over the 11S and other previous RoboVac models, and it isn’t just in suction power. The 30C has new smart assistant features, app-based controls, and it even has boundary strips so that you can keep your RoboVac on task, which will help keep areas cleaner, and use less power/battery to get the job done.



What is it: The EUFY RoboVac 30C is the latest and greatest – and most powerful – RoboVac ever made. Not only does it have more suction power and more ways to control it, but they’ve also decided to include app support VIA the EufyHome app, which can be installed on Android or Apple devices, which allows you to control the RoboVac from your device, as well as setup cleaning schedules for the vacuum. Additionally, Eufy decided to make an additional technological leap, adding Google Assistant and Alexa support so that you can control your RoboVac just be speaking a few words. They also increased the battery power to support up to 100 minutes of continuous vacuuming!



What Comes in the Box:
- Of course, the RoboVac 30C
- An extra high-performance filter
- 2 sets of bristles that attach under the RoboVac and spin while it cleans
- The Remote control (complete with two (s) AAA batteries)
- The instruction manual
- The charging base and cord
- A bristle brush for cleaning the sweeper.
- (2) 6.5ft boundary strips
- (1) pkg of 3M double-sided tape strips to install the boundary strips



How does it work: The RoboVac 30C is controlled by handy dandy wireless remote, through the Eufyhome App on Android or Apple devices, or by using Google Assistant or Alexa voice commands. The primary modes are: spot cleaning, edge cleaning, single-room mode, and auto. Here is a brief description of the modes:
- Spot Cleaning: In this mode, the RoboVac starts at whatever point you start it at and goes around in a slow concentric circle, getting wider as it drives around thoroughly cleaning the designated area. This cycle last for two minutes, and then the RoboVac stops.
- Edge Cleaning: In this mode, the RoboVac drives until it finds the nearest wall-surface, and then it bumps and moves along the edges for 20 minutes, which is more than enough time to clean the corners and edges of pretty much any sized room. Once it’s done the RoboVac automatically heads back to the charging base to dock.
- Single-Room Mode: This is a combination of angles and edges, as the RoboVac drives around from corner to corner, or in various directions for a period of 30 minutes, which is ample for most sized rooms. Once it’s done the RoboVac automatically heads back to the charging base to dock.
- Auto Mode: In Auto Mode, the RoboVac optimizes its cleaning path by selecting different cleaning modes automatically until cleaning is complete.



Additional Control Options:
- Charge Mode: The RoboVac will head back to the base station to charge.
- Fan Speed: The fan speed button allows you to set the amount of suction power that the RoboVac uses. The mode will be indicated by the number of audible beeps when you hit the fan speed button.
o One Beep – Standard Suction
o Two Beeps – BoostIQ mode (automatically adjusts the suction power as needed)
o Three Beeps – Max Suction




What’s New: There are three significant new features in the RoboVac 30C. First and foremost, the RoboVac has voice support now. You can use your Google Assistant or Alexa enabled device to control the RoboVac. All you have to do is say “Ok Google” or “Hey Alexa” followed by “Ask RoboVac to start cleaning”, or “Ask RoboVac to stop cleaning.” – It’s really quite a novel feature that helps make cleaning even that much easier. Second, the RoboVac has an app-based controlled now. You can download the EufyHome app on your Apple or Android device, so that you can use it to control the RoboVac. The App also allows you to setup cleaning schedules for your RoboVac. There is an option for each day of the week, where you can preset a time for the RoboVac to start cleaning. However, this is a bit limited because it only allows you to set one time per day, and you can’t preset a mode. It will automatically enter the last cleaning mode that it was used in. Last but not least, the 30C has boundary strips. The RoboVac comes with two (2) magnetic boundary strips, along with some 3M double-sided tape, that you can install anywhere you want to keep your RoboVac from running off. You can cut them up or install them pretty much anywhere you want so that you can keep your RoboVac on task.




Does it work: Yes! And it works well. The 30C has plenty of suction power and a wide variety of cleaning options to ensure that your home or office is nice and clean – granted you keep the floor tidy and free of objects and cords. The RoboVac can only clean as well as your house is actually cleaned. So, don’t expect to drop this thing in your kids’ room with toys everywhere and then be disappointed that it didn’t pick up all of the Legos. However, if you do your part and keep everything tidy and in order, the RoboVac will help save you time and leg work by doing the vacuuming for you! Not only is it good for routine cleaning and picking up dust and dirt, but it can also do some heavier lifting in the event that you drop small debris, trash, crumbs, etc… on the floor. The suction power and robust BoostIQ mode, has up to 1500Pa of suction power on demand, which works extremely well in conjunction with the side brushes, that help sweep objects into the suction area for pick-up. As long as you keep your floors relatively clean and use the RoboVac often, it ‘s a great option for your home cleaning arsenal!




Hang-ups and Shortfalls: I haven’t had too many problems with the vacuum, but occasionally it will find something to get stuck on and cry out for help with its built-in PC speaker with a set number of beeps for problems. Four (4) beeps lets you know that it needs help. It doesn’t get stuck too often, but it doesn’t like things with ramps like pedestal fans. It also doesn’t’ like cords – actually, I should probably say that it does like cords… it tries to suck them up. So… PSA, make sure your cords are wrapped up and tucked away neatly so the RoboVac doesn’t run over them. Another shortfall with the RoboVac is setting up the daily schedules. You can set a schedule each day for the RoboVac, but you can’t set the mode, and you can’t set more than one time. You are limited to selecting a single time and the mode that the RoboVac uses will be the last mode the RoboVac was in prior to docking – kind of annoying. Hopefully the next model will allow you to set multiple schedules and specific modes. Last but not least, the Wi-Fi connection only supports up to 2.4Ghz connections, which is pretty common, but still unfortunate. Thankfully my router supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections (my primary is 5Ghz), which means that if I want to control the RoboVac through the phone app, I have to leave my phone connected to the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi connection. It’s not the end of the world, but it can be inconvenient if you like to life your life on 5Ghz when you’re at home.

Conclusion: I was already a big fan of the 11S, and I'm an even bigger fan of the 30C. The best upgrade - in my opinion - is the boundary strips, and voice command support. The biggest headache that I had with the last model I reviewed was that it would leave the room I wanted it to clean by going through the door, so I would have to put obstacles in the way to keep it on task - not anymore! Also, I have been really engaging my Google Assistant a lot more for smart devices in my home, so being able to say "Hey Google, ask RoboVac to start cleaning" is really nice! The cleaning schedule could use a little work and there are a few odds and ends that could be improved on, but overall it's a solid vacuum and it has tons of suction power and cleaning modes to get the job done. If you're in the market for a robotic vacuum cleaner, I think that this one deserves some serious consideration - especially considering the pricing on the competition!
