Not yet, I have the unlock code but was unable to get the code entry box to pop up with a Verizon sim in it... some of the research I did said it should automatically pop up the text field upon restart with a different sim asking for the unlock code, but it never did pop up.
You may have better luck than I did!

Is there still a financial responsibility attached to this phone from AT&T by any chance? Just asking...

Not doubting you, but we seem to have a rash of people selling devices with payment plans attached to them and I'm just trying to stop the flow.

    Thanks for understanding, Jon.

I'm kinnnndaa interested, but not having this unlocked, and as I read, you're not certain this is even able to be used on AT&T?
Please clarify and share your best price.
    Thanks!

It's an AT&T variant so it has to work with them no matter what.

I think he was saying that he hasn't gotten it unlocked for other carriers

Is their a reason it can't be unlocked according to AT&T or could AT&T block also for various reasons?

There may be other reasons for AT&T not to unlock their phone for a user. One reason would be that there is still a financial obligation tied to that device. If that obligation is not met in full...it'll never be usable except by a user with an AT&T SIM card. The only other reason that I know of, is the stipulation that AT&T has about the user requesting the unlock code being one with a perfect payment history for the last 6-months. If AT&T isn't satisfied with that...they can refuse to release a code as well.

Color me naive, but how can someone sell a phone that's registered to them while they still owe money on it? That seems absolutely ludicrous.

It's basically a form of theft.

They can't afford to pay for the phone and the service, so they dump the phone on an unsuspecting buyer on eBay, or some other way, and then aren't heard from again, while they just ignore their carrier.

The carrier then blacklists the IMEI as stolen, and the unsuspecting buyer can't get the phone unlocked to work on another carrier.

Cant the unsuspecting buyer simply contact the carrier and offer to pay off the remaining balance of the phone in order to have it unlocked? Or is it a brick forever ?

Doesn't the carrier also take personal identification, address, credit check??? I can't imagine someone could shuck and jive the system all *that* long... color me practical.

Not sure. But I think the carrier would rather deal with the person they had the contract with.

Doesn't mean that some people don't try anyway. Quite a few phones get sold out of the country and then those people end up posting to AT&T support forum asking about getting their phone unlocked - which AT&T won't do.

Woof this post has taken some heat since I was gone!!
I will talk to the previous seller, but I do believe it is fully paid for (I've checked IMEI and it passes,) but I was just unsure if I was doing it correctly or not.
Seller was a well-known, reputable seller in general as well (which backed up the passing IMEI.)
Perhaps it's time for a new post, but it certainly works on AT&T and I do have some form of an unlock code, however I will investigate further with the previous seller to see whats going on there.
