So…. I got both phones this week. :-)
Here are my initial thoughts.

Z10
Abysmal battery life so far. After a full charge, it looked like it dropped 5% in one hour of non-use.
Screen is better & easier on the eyes. It also turns on faster when swiping to wake.
The compass says "calibrate" often, and seems a bit unstable.
Internal speakers are nowhere near as good as my old iPhone 4S.
Earpiece speaker is loud enough, but fairly bright. Lots of sibilance frequencies though.
Phone is more comfortable to use and type with one hand. Two handed is typing also fine.
Voice control button stands out more feel-wise, which is good.
Music (headphones) is also a bit dryer, but not bad.
Screen seems a bit more responsive to gestures (maybe it's the shorter throw?)
The ambient image brightness sensor seems to do a better job.

Z30
Battery life seems great.
Phone is overall faster. Not radically, but noticeably.
The compass never says "calibrate" and always seems accurate/stable.
Internal speakers MUCH better and louder.
Earpiece speaker is almost too soft, but sounds nicer.
Phone is a bit awkward with one hand, but the keyboard is nice and big for fast two handed typing.
Sliding to wake seems a fair bit slower. I think the Amoled screen has a power on/off delay.
You definitely get more useful real estate on the hub view and calendar view.
Camera seems a bit better and seems to focus better more often.
Headphone jack seems fairly hard to push in all the way.
Music (headphones) sounds better/warmer/more 3d.
Screen a little less responsive to touch, but I haven't removed the protective plastic yet :-)

Bottom line:
I wish they fit a slightly larger screen in a phone the same size as the Z10, but thicker and with better battery. :-/ As it stands, the battery may well be the deciding factor. I have two email accounts, Facebook, and Linked in. I unplugged it from the charger this morning and just let it sit there for an hour. It went down around 5%. Is something wrong here, or is the Z10 just fairly puny in this department?
I may have to stick with the Z30 and wait for the next batch of phones. So far, I'm really liking most of the OS!

Oh, and the Z30 was 2x the price. Z10 running 10.1 and Z30 10.2.

I just bought the 4500mah battery for my z10 (expecting it next week). Makes it a bit chunkier but for one handed use and screen quality it still beats the z30. The battery can last up to two full days with moderate to heavy use from the reviews I've read on here. Not a fan of big screen phones so the z10 is right in my tolerance area. With the battery I have coming the z30 doesn't tempt me at all.

Sounds good…but that adds another $100 or so for me, so it's getting close to the Z30 initial price :-)

I found the z10 battery works better after a few days of charge cycles.

Retest it in 2 weeks and update the thread.
