My BlackBerry Z30 will not auto-focus during video recording , ie. @ 1080p the middle screen "square case" turns green, and stays
green without refocusing on another object (turning white and back to green).
This only happens when video recording. The "square case" in the middle screen stays green always no matter what you do, or move around.
The funny thing is: if you stop recording the auto focus works perfect. The square case turns white and green to refocus when you move.

My carrier is Sasktel, OS version 10.2.1.537.

That's strange. I'm running the same version, though the leak, but I did notice that it takes longer to focus at times. However, I am still able to focus. I'll do some more tests and report back.

It only happens for me when I am Video recording. The middle "green square case" stays green all the time.

And when I stop recording the Middle screen square case returns to normal white to green to refocus. That is ok.
I have no issues with that. The auto focus works fine whan I am NOT video recording.

I've seen other threads on this same issue. Not sure if a fix is in them or if you have to wait for another update.

Before The last update the video camera worked fine. So I think maybe is an issue of the OS v. 10.2.1.537. thru OTA Sasktel carrier.
Anyone with the official OS update thru Sasktel who have the same problem on a Z30?
A friend of mine with a Z10 has the latest OS v 10.2.1.537 thru Sasktel has the same issue with the video camera.

You may have the auto-focus lock enabled.

I tried to unlock it if it was indeed that but there is no lock function no more with this latest update.
My friend has the same issue in his Z10.
Just so that I am doing this right, to unlock the the auto-focus you just press the middle screen and the lock icon dissappears?
In my BB Z30 I do that but no lock icon appears at all. I have the official OS v. 10.2.1.537 thru Sasktel.

I just did a short video to test my camera. The auto focus indicator stayed green, but every thing was in focus. I went from 10 ft subject to approximately 3 ft subject (around the room). It seems to adjust focus anyway

Video setting:
Stabilization mode on = continuous green focus box.
Stabilization mode off = variable green focus box.

Uhmmm I will have to test again to see if it is true. I dont understand why would stay green tho.
When I tried it yesterday I never saw it refocusing when I moved around objects at a distance or near.
But if you stop recording I noticed refocusing all the time when moving around. You clearly notice it for sure.

I tested again today and definetively it is not auto refocusing during video recording. I have to manually
refocus by pressing the middle green square case to make it white and back to green to refocus the object.
( near and far objects).
