The problem is BlackBerry is not Apple. They should get things right from the beginning. Z10 is probably just an year old but already outdated. No Miracast and WIFI direct even my old Android phone can do WIFI direct. At least they could have added a bigger battery. There is no doubt BBRY was over confident and didn't care much or underestimated the importance of BB10 launch. And no need to say Z10 was over priced way too much.
Huh these kind-of omissions are done everywhere eventually they get it right when customers are vocally pissed.
The zed should have used an AMOLED screen + non removable battery and paratek antenna and been released at the same time as the Q10.
Z10 Running 10.2.1.1925 Take that Mr App Gap!
Z30 just wasn't ready lol. Not much choice. And now with Foxconn I'm hoping that will mean they can release in multiple regions much faster instead of slow rollouts.
It is a large phone, but try using one and then use an iPhone...there's only my 1.5 inches difference but my iPhone feels like a toy now! The size isn't for some but you get used to it, and it gives BlackBerry 10 more room to breathe.

They honestly should be able to fit a 5 inch screen on a Z10 ish sized device.
I wrote this in Chris 's post about Jakarta, but I think that the three devices BlackBerry has in form factor are good q10, z10, z30. To continue to be responsive to the various consumer segments, they should vary the components in the phones to hit different markets.
For example, make a new Z10 form factor phone. For the high end models, more memory, faster processors, paratec, steel body, miracast, carbon fiber back better camera, etx.. for the emerging markets, they can remove stuff, lower specs to fit price points.

With Foxconn the possibility of a 4inch screen slider could be possible. Didn't they have a patent on a BlackBerry 10 slider somewhere ??
Not sure why Z10 was 1280 x 768 and the rest of the phones are 720. This shows how confused BlackBerry were.
I think this and the lack of WiFi Direct can be traced back to the spec of the phone being locked down in Q1-Q2 of 2012 during which time BB10 was delayed until end of Jan 2013.
The spec of the Z10 could have been upgraded in that time and made more battery efficient but BlackBerry took the easy option of sitting on what they had. Maybe they'd already (over) ordered all the components for production by then.
That would also go towards explaining why even after BlackBerry made a point of saying BB10 would see standardisation of screen resolutions they ended up releasing 3 out of the 4 BB10 phones of 2013 with different screen resolutions! During the delay BlackBerry probably changed their mind on what the "standard" full touch screen resolution and aspect ratio would be, but too late for the Z10.
Irreversible decisions made before the 2012 delays of BB10 were announced will be the cause of many spec related mysteries.
Hoping to pick up a Z30 soon... possibly tomorrow lol.
I have to say the main thing that has my interest is the battery life. It is rare for a phone to have a long battery life these days. I have also looked into the LG G2 but choose the Z30 because I choose to be different lol
The Z30 battery life is awesome, you need a week or so for it to break in and optimise. BlackBerry chose to use a 720p display and dual-core CPU instead of 1080p and quad-core because there wasn't much of a performance difference between the two, but a lot of battery usage, something you would notice with the G2 over the Z30.
BlackBerry Z30 wins samsung in every way! The only weakness for BB10 is its app ecosystem and some buggy issues in BB10 OS only... it is still perfect for now....
Agreed the Q10 and Z30 should have been launched at the same time. But like mentioned before that's the past hind sight is 20/20. It's the future that now counts. Let's just hope with new Future OS that the app eco system continues to grow.

Maybe you should try 10.2.1.1925 with snap, I found all the apps I need and more with that combo
I've told Blackberry a handful of times that the Z30 is what the Z10 should have been as far as hardware goes. Screen size differences notwithstanding, the Z30 feels 100x better than the Z10. The features are more complete and there was no reason for Blackberry to have put out (looking back) a half finished product that is the Z10. USB host, wifi direct/miracast, BT4.0, stereo speakers, reasonably sized battery, all things that the Z10 should support/have and doesn't. Even with the 10.2.1.x leaks on the Z10 it felt 50x better than the Z10 that was shipped to me. Stock Z30 was at least 25x better simply because of the features I named above, but 10.2.1.x is when it started to shine. I do have criticisms for the Z30 but none that will change (location of SIM and SD cards and the cover for both, non-removable battery shouldn't be an issue but when loading leaks a battery pull is sometimes necessary).

They chose battery life over specs. Even then the specs are good enough for heavy users.
