    Hey folks,

I've been noticing that my Z30 rarely ever surpasses 3 bars on LTE. I'm in the Toronto area on Rogers and haven't had this issue before so a bit a puzzled. I know the Paratek Antenna was touted to be quite the upgrade but it feels as though it's worse. Could this be a device defect or is this a commonality for the device?

How was your signal before? And on which device?

I am wondering about this too... Don't want to hijack your thread but I find 4G coverage is full bars then jumps down to zero bars instantly, then back up again. Any insight into this would be great!

Well, prior to the Z30 I was on a Bold 9700. Never had signal issues with the device. A more current reference may be the S3 my brother owns which seems to work exceptionally in the same area.

No worries, I'm in the same situation as you actually. Same symptoms.

Odd, I've noticed basements and elevators to have signal with my Z30 where they wouldn't have any signal with my Z10.

    Which OS are you on?

Signal reception as compared to the Z19 and the 9900 is better IMO. I am located in a fringe signal area. The new antenna seems to work better.

I have said this before also. but it was the Q10 but I have noticed the Z30 is a lot more stable and I get 1 more bar in areas I use to get 3. And I'm right in the middle of really good lte coverage.

Wouldn't it be due to the fact that you are on LTE as the LTE coverage in Canada isn't that great, yet? If you change the settings to 3G or HSPA, you'll probably fine full bars like the 9700 which is also only 3G.

I know when I had the Z30 (or any LTE devivce), coverage was always spotty with LTE (on Bell/Virgin) unless you are lucky enough to be by a tower. Personally, I don't really need the speed increase of LTE so I keep my phone on HSPA (which I guess helps with the battery too...).

Not true when I had my S3 it would show full bars mostly everywhere in Calgary. Note 2 same thing. But with all 3 new bb10 devices I don't get full bars very often.

I keep mine on HSPA but experience the drop signal problem. I looked at coverage maps for my city along the street that I frequently experience this problem and it falls inline with the low to high signal coverage. But, any other phone, on the same network and HSPA, that I took along the same street had no drop signal, stayed constant throughout the entire trip. As with the OP, drop signal or very weak.

Not sure what it may be. Wouldn't want to stick with 3G though given there is LTE now. Hopefully it's something minor and can be fixed via an OS update or along that lines. It may just be poor reception as stated. I don't really mind when it works, but there are times texts messages etc just hang with the red clock.

I've heard that 10.2.0.1803/10.2.0.1809 have improved signal when compared to 10.2.0.1791 and prior. Are you on 1791, 1803 or something else?

My self I'm on 1809 and I find this os excellent. It doesn't have some of the options of the 10.2.1 but this is by far the most solid os I have used.

Software release is 10.2.0.415. I think OS is 10.0.2.1767. Not really into the whole leaked OS deal, though I have updated the Android runtime.

Some pictures worth seeing. The phone gets full bars on 4G but falls short on LTE.

Hmm, Rogers has pushed out 1803 to Z10 and Q10. Telus and Bell have pushed out 1803 to Z30, not sure why Rogers is behind.

You could try loading just the 1810 radio, and see if that works. It's less intrusive than a full-blown leaked OS, just load one bar file and reboot.

hmm, that is odd. not sure why they skipped the Z30 for the update. Does 1803 add anything else if one were to install the whole operating system? As in features.

Successive 10.2.0 releases are merely additional coats of varnish at this point, i.e. no new features, probably minor improvements to performance. The better radio in 1803 and following was surprising.

now the question is.. with the 2-3 bars signal on LTE do you get what you want with your data speed? that's the important thing. signal bars could be anywhere but it means nothing & nonsense if you have your bars showing full but you can't browse or send messages.

This is really strange. I'm on Rogers as well with my Z30 and find LTE coverage absolutely fantastic. Additionally, I used to have to stand by the window in my basement to call with the Z10 and now I can call just about anywhere in my basement. Mind you, I am running the 1055 leak so maybe they've done signal tweaks?
To @Fr3lncr up there, Canada's actually one of the leaders (not saying too much) in the world for LTE coverage, falling behind USA and Japan (100% for Japan). We don't have it in most of the country like the States does, but for Toronto, LTE is perfect and additionally one of the fastest in the world (I think ranked 4th at around 18Mbps compared to around 9.5Mbps for the States).

I had difference range/signal with my Z10 butmuch better than iphone users of samsung.

With my Z30 it's always 5 also under the building where iphone doesn't has any signal I still able to make a good call on 2 stripes.

In the building in the middle we also have a toilet and elevator and still 4-5 stripes and iphone and HTC one just 1 and there talk quality
is very poor at that moment.

So 2 communicate 24 hours non-stop you can trust that the blackberry Z30 does the job.

Maybe Ottawa just sucks for lte as I have never been able to get higher than 3 bars on either the z10, z30 or nexus 5 with lte on... unless I was at my friends place in the east end and that was only because a tower was nearby..

I'm in the Toronto area as well and in general I find LTE coverage with Rogers to be spotty. I've got a Z30 now but had the Z10 before and there were very few places where I got full LTE. In my condo in Markham, right on Highway 7 and even near a window I'm lucky to get 2 bars of LTE.
